About Us

We are Mind the Gap’s Ideas Forum or ‘IF’… because all great ideas start with ‘what IF?’  We are all aged under 25 and have a learning disability.  Our job is to come up with ideas about what Mind the Gap should be doing with other young people and then make it happen.

We started this blog for a project called I’m with Stupid so that everyone could be involved and tell us what they thought. Lots of people used it to give us their ideas and feedback so we’ve decided to carry it on, so we can tell you what we’re up to and you can tell us what you want to do at Mind the Gap.

Please make lots of comments and tell us what is important to you!

Lots of young people were involved in this project through filming, recording and editing all the pieces, and acting, dancing and performing in them.

Firstly I must credit my fellow members of the Ideas Forum: Liam Bairstow, Edmund Davies, JoAnne Haines and Zara Mallinson, and our colleagues from Making Theatre that formed the core creative team: Liam Adams, Felicity Bagley and Emily Moorhouse.

We must also thank the Acting Company and other Mind the Gap regulars who worked alongside us to make the I’m with Stupid MashUp 360: Israr Abbas, David Beecroft, Alan Clay, Howard Davies, Anna-Marie Heslop, Jonathan Ide, Jonathan Lewis, Susan Middleton, Jack Riley, Chloe Shaw-Champion and Chris Steel.

We couldn’t have made any of the films, audio or photographs without our friends from the schools that we worked with. From Southfield School: Sarah Copeland, Tim Corbey, Joe Davies, Gaynor Glover, James Horsfall, Dale Hunter, Sandi Neale, Jordan Overend, Neel Patel, Latisha Roe, Amber Stocker, Abigail Taylor, Oliver Thompson and Jacob West. From Hazelbeck School: Sally Baldwin, Steven Banks, Sadie Blackburn, Charlotte Cook, Daniel Greenald, Joshua Heaton, Daniel Illingworth, Rebecca Pattison, Ribiya Razaaq, Sarah Snowdon and Jade Wood. From Parkside School: Clare Addis, Jordan Earnshaw, Daniel Fletcher, Naomi Illingworth and Danielle Snow.

We would also like to credit the group of young people from Bradford Down Syndrome Training and Support Service: Kim Booth, Euan Evans-Thirlwell, Andrew Jackson, Katie Matthews, Kaitlin McNulty and Afreen Qamar.  And thanks for their input to everyone who was involved in the Have a Go Weekend: media project, Syed Amash Ali, Paul Bates, Emma Brooksbank, Rebecca Brooksbank, Sarah Doncaster, Jessica Garrido, Charlotte Jones, Uwais Mahmood, Alex Millar, Oliver Orchard, Jacqui Peters, Alexandra Scholefield, David Sellers, Russell Shepherd, Molly Weatherill and Amy Wood.

Of course none of it would have been possible without the expertise and support of the experts who shared their skills and experience so generously: Simon McGrath (sound and audio) Will Simpson (film-maker) and Tim Smith (photographer); thank you to Stephen Elliott who helped create the Blog and taught us how to use it, and to Ben Pugh (creative producer) who made sure it all came together in the end!

And finally, IF would like to thank the staff of Mind the Gap who supported the creative team throughout the process: Rhiannon Ellis, Pete Huntley, Joyce Lee, Lisa Mallaghan, Ben Rothera, Maria Thelwell, Dave Searle, Julia Skelton, Charli Ward and Tim Wheeler.

You were all great! Thank you for being a part of I’m with Stupid.
